VN-Index maintains a slight upward rhythm, but breadth is not yet truly in agreement

In the previous session, VN-Index continued to hold a slight uptrend, closing at 1,766.7 points, up 4.8 points, equivalent to +0.3%. Market-wide liquidity remained at a high level, suggesting that capital has not left the market, even though the short-term trend still leans toward consolidation.

The current picture shows the index moving around the 1,760-1,770 point zone. Near-term support lies at 1,755-1,760 points, while the next resistance is in the 1,770-1,780 point zone; if the index decisively breaks above this zone, market sentiment could improve more clearly.

Standout stock groups remain highly divergent

On the gainers' side, notable leading tickers on HOSE include GIL (+6.9%), BTT (+6.8%), TCM (+6.5%), LAF (+6.5%) and ABR (+6.1%). This group shows that buying pressure remains selective, focusing on stocks with positive technical setups.

Conversely, several stocks saw significant declines, such as HTV (-6.9%), DGW (-6.9%), KOS (-6.8%), ASP (-6.7%) and VDP (-6.3%). This development reflects a clear divergence between industry groups and between stocks with different price bases.

Liquidity and technical signals

In terms of liquidity, the most actively traded tickers on HOSE include SHB with 27.7 million shares, TPB with 27.4 million shares and TCB with 25.1 million shares. Large liquidity helps sustain the index's movement, but it is not yet enough to confirm a sustainable breakout if market breadth does not improve.

Among technical signals, CMF reached a composite score of 85.4 points, followed by DHA and ADP, both at 74.1. These stocks are maintaining technical conditions better than the broader market, making them suitable for monitoring as capital favors groups with tight price bases.

HNX and UPCOM: mixed performance

The HNX-Index closed the session at 259.9 points, up 0.4 points, equivalent to +0.1%. Meanwhile, the UPCOM-Index fell 0.4 points to 125.7 points, equivalent to -0.3%, indicating that divergence persists across exchanges.

Among notable tickers, those showing bullish technical signals include SAF, PSI, PTS, CCR, VGP, CMF, VLB, SJG and GDA. Among them, PTS and VLB have entered overbought territory, so the probability of a sharp corrective move is higher.

Outlook ahead of the 29/10 session

The most likely scenario for the morning session is that the market opens in a divergent state, with capital continuing to favor stocks with tight price bases and MACD remaining positive. If VN-Index decisively breaks above the 1,770-1,780 point zone, the short-term trend will be further reinforced.

Conversely, if the index fails to hold the 1,755-1,760 point zone, the volatility may extend further. Investors should continue monitoring the transportation, consumer and certain midcap groups that are showing good technical signals.
